This is where I keep track of EVERYTHING that I watch. I try to describe them as if I'm talking to a stranger on the street. Here is the definition of my made-up word:

[moo-vyoo-og-ruh-fee] – noun

1. A listing of movies that I have seen
2. A collection of writings about motion pictures, esp. detailed essays dealing with specific films.

What It’s About: A struggling writer (Bradley Cooper) encounters an old friend who gives him a drug that allows him to use 100% of his brain. When he ends up with a huge supply, he uses the drug to become successful in the business world which gets the attention of a business mogul (Robert DeNiro) and some loan shark gangster dude.
What I Liked: I really liked the film’s use of color between the sober state and the drugged state. Before his drug use, the world he lives in looks very bland, dark, and depressing. When he uses the drug, the world is suddenly turns very vibrant, full of life, and…happy? (Not promoting the use of drugs btw, because they are bad). It makes the viewer feel like they are along the ride on the drug trip. The first 2/3 of the film was very exciting to watch as Bradley Cooper curiously takes on tasks with such ease.
What I Didn’t Like: The last 30-minutes of the film didn’t live up to what happened previously, it was somewhat of a let-down. I felt that Robert DeNiro’s character was wasted because it seemed like he wasn’t a big deal or as important as the film wanted him to be. There was a part I thought was unbelievable which involved a pool of blood, but if you just turn off your brain throughout the film I think you would enjoy it.
Watch This If You Like: Bradley Cooper, Requeim For A Dream (but want a happy version), action, thrillers.
Grade: B-
